Havan and Kirtan is being conducted regularly by Atmagyanam and you are welcome to join us. Join our group for more information. Havan is a powerful vedic ritual, a fire ceremony. It brings purification and transformation to the individual and the environment when practiced regularly. We chant a selection of sanskrit mantras together and offer herbs to the fire. Mahamrityunjaya mantra with a sankalpa (resolve) for health and healing for all is chanted 108 times.

a bit more from ''Janani: Understanding Prakriti'' by Swami Prembhava Saraswati:

Havan is a small form of yajna that requires one or more people to perform. The practice of havan has been revived from ancient times by Sri Swami Satyananda and is now performed by ashrams and aspirants around the world, not just for individual and social peace but for the wellbeing of earth and her ecosystems. During a havan the divine forces are invoked through the chanting of Sanskrit mantras, the offering of healing herbs, samagri, into the fire, and the sankalpa of the sadhana. Through the havan, individuals align themselves and their environment with the positive energies of creation, which are generating, sustaining and transforming.

''Nowadays we know about the environment, about the greenhouse effect, global warming and so on. Yajna is the remedy for these imbalances. All lovers of the environment who believe that the atmosphere should be purified, that carbon monoxide must be reduced, should practise yajna, not only on a mass scale but also on an individual scale.''
—Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Kirtan is one of the nine limbs of Bhakti Yoga.  Kirtan is a call-and-response chanting of sacred mantras, often accompanied by rhythmic music. It creates a communal atmosphere filled with devotion, joy, and a profound sense of unity. The repetitive nature of the chants allows participants to enter a meditative state, where the mind becomes still, and the heart opens wide.

One of the beautiful aspects of Kirtan is its accessibility. It is not confined to any particular culture, religion, or musical background. Regardless of one's beliefs or abilities, Kirtan creates an inclusive space where individuals can come together as a community, transcending differences and finding common ground through the shared experience of music and devotion.

The benefits of regular Kirtan practice extend beyond the duration of the chant. It has been said that Kirtan can quiet the mind, relieve stress, and awaken a deep sense of inner peace. As we surrender to the melodies and immerse ourselves in the sacred vibrations, we tap into a wellspring of spiritual energy that nourishes our being, leaving us refreshed, rejuvenated, and connected to something greater than ourselves.

In these troubled times, where the world seems increasingly fragmented, Kirtan becomes a sanctuary for the weary soul. Come, sing, and be transported to a realm where the boundaries dissolve, and the soul finds solace in the symphony of devotion <3
